The key point to remember when using this site is that what you send us is what we print. The site is
intended for graphic designers who want a quick, reliable and cost effective service. To be able to offer
this we have to assume that users have at least a basic level of understanding in terms of generating print
ready artwork. For more information please see our page "designing for digital" & our FAQs.
PDF Size & Format.
Artwork, however generated, should be at the correct size, with all fonts embedded and all layers flattened
before creation of the print ready PDF. PDFS should be "PDF version 1.3 (Adobe Acrobat 4.x)". Pdf versions
higher than 1.3 are not digital print stable!
WHY? Unflattened artwork, or artwork without all fonts embedded may print incorrectly however the issues(usually
to do with transparent layers, knockouts, tints, gradients or font substitution) may not be spotted by Our operators
when your job is "proofed" (we print & review a proof copy of ever job) as the effects can be quite subtle.
Colour.
We cannot adjust the colour of your print job. If you work in CMYK & refer to our printed colour chart
(please contact us for a copy if you do not have one) then colour should never be an issue. If you are
trying to create or match a colour that is not in our printed colour chart then we will be happy to print a
colour "swatch" if you email one to us. The colours displayed on your monitor (RGB) will never be identical
to a printed version & should not be relied upon. The colours produced by any other type of digital printer
will not be identical to colours produced on our machines unless they are calibrated to exactly the same
profile and therefore should also not be relied upon.
Bleed, Crop marks & cutting margins.
Our system is completely automated. When you upload a file our system looks at the dimensions of the
pdf & calculates how many can fit on a sheet (we only print onto SRA3 sheets - 450mm x 320mm with 8mm
margins), to give you the best price possible. (e.g. business cards at 87mm x 57mm (Inc. 1mm bleed),
which finish to 85mm x 55mm, fit 21 to a sheet so 105 cards would require 5 sheets) This is the print
quantity you are charged for. We only require (& always assume unless told otherwise in *special
instructions") 1mm bleed & do not require crop marks. If you include Crop marks, colour bars, >1mm
bleed then you May not get as many items onto each printed page & therefore may end up paying for more
sheets than would otherwise be required. The final choice on bleed & crop marks etc is, however, yours!
